World - Miscellaneous CD - The Western image of bellydancing is associated with Greek or Middle Eastern restaurants, or some form of low-cost home Seduction. The truth, of course, is something different. It’s an ancient form of dance, requiring extremely complex body control to execute properly — and it’s original name, baladi, has nothing to do with the belly, translating instead as “country dance.” But whichever way you look at it, the music on this compilation is made for the dance, whether it’s the satisfying full Egyptian strings of Jalilah and Mokhtar Al Said’s “Enta Omri,” a piece originally written for the great Oum Kolthoum, or the stunning buzuq work of the late Mohamed Matar, whose nimble, inventive playing deserves greater exposure. The centerpiece, however, belongs to Nubian percussionist Mahmoud Fadl, with “Aament Bellah,” a piece written to illustrate the power of the dance to lighten spirits and the oppressive weight over everyday life. At 12 minutes, it demands a lot from the listener, but amply repays it with shards of musical genius from the ensemble, and a rhythm that can’t be denied. The music ranges from the classical compositions of Mohammed Abdel Wahab to folk pieces, presented in a manner that largely runs the gamut of Middle Eastern music. What can I do about my girlfriends daughters flirtatious behavior toward me?
I am a 44 year old man and for the past 2 years I have been in a relationship with a woman 39 who has one daughter who is 15 years old, from a previous relationship.
Just before christmas last year I moved in with my girlfriend and her daughter. I was and am very happy with the arrangement except for one thing.
Although I had met my girlfriends daughter before moving in with them I had not spent a considerable amount of time with her and she had always been rather shy with me however as time went on after I moved in we got to know each other better and I liked to think that I have provided something of a stable and caring male presence in her life which she has always lacked as her own father left when she was very small.
She likes music and so as I play the guitar I have been teaching her to play and I even took her to see Radiohead.
I felt I was building a good relationship with her but something seems to have gone quite wrong. Over the past few months her behavior toward me has become very flirtatious and even down right provocative in some cases although I do not want to go into too much detail I am beginning to dread the times when I must be alone with her in the house. Much worse I am ashamed to admit that their are times when her behaviour has had a physical effect on me. Of course I have never and would never touch her. She is a beautiful and charming girl and does look older than her 15 years but I never forget that she is a child and one who’s mother I love very much and intend to marry.
I read that girls can go through a stage of pseudo Seduction of their fathers and I am sure it is natural is the normal course of things but I am not her father and I am at quite a loss at what to do. I know I must do something but have rather burried my head in the sand over this problem her mother doesn’t seem to notice and I don’t know how to bring it up with her.
How do I deal with this situation?
Reprimand her & if that doesn’t work, tell her mother. ^___^
